Amazon.com What to expect from the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Vac+
The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Vac+ is the vacuum-only model of iRobot's Max line, sold with an AutoEmpty dock: two anti-tangle rubber brushes and an edge-sweeping brush with Carpet Boost, ClearView Pro lidar that maps the home day or night, and PrecisionVision AI, a camera that recognizes cables, socks and pet waste and steers around them. The dock empties the bin into an enclosed bag that holds up to 75 days of debris and traps particles as small as 0.7 microns. It offers four suction levels and works with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
On paper it combines the two things that matter most for a robot left alone with pets, lidar mapping and camera obstacle recognition, with iRobot's anti-tangle rubber brushes and Dirt Detect, which spots large messes ahead and repeats passes there. iRobot claims 180 times the suction of its 600 series in spot mode, but gives no figure in pascals. The Max 705 Combo is the same line with a PowerSpin roller mop and a washing station.
None of our test sources has measured it, so how well it vacuums and how reliably its camera avoids pet waste is still unknown. Our specifications list no suction figure, run time or bag size. Anyone who would rather buy on test results can look at the Roomba j7+, an older Roomba with iRobot's PrecisionVision camera that avoided every piece of fake pet waste in Vacuum Wars' test.
