What to expect from the Narwal Freo 20

The Narwal Freo 20 is a roller-mop robot from 2026: its FlowWash roller is flushed with fresh water while it mops, and the dirty water is sucked away at once, so it is not spread over the floor again. It has 31,000 Pa of suction, DualFlow main and side brushes built against hair wrap, obstacle recognition with two cameras and TwinAI that, according to Narwal, knows more than 300 types of household object, and it takes double thresholds of up to 1.6 inches. The station washes the roller in water of up to 212 °F, dries it with air of up to 140 °F, refills the robot and holds up to 120 days of dust.

On paper it matches the Narwal Flow 2, which TechRadar and Vacuum Wars tested, in several places: the same 31,000 Pa, a self-rinsing roller, a two-camera obstacle system, a wash of up to 212 °F and 120 days of dust. Our specifications do not show whether it doses detergent or can be connected to the water supply, both of which the Flow 2 can.

None of our test sources has measured the Freo 20. Whether it avoids the Flow 2's weak spots in the tests, dried stains and edges, is not yet known. At 3.7 inches the robot is of average height, and our specifications list no battery or run time. Anyone who wants a Narwal with a roller mop and camera recognition on the strength of test results can look at the Flow 2.

Based on the maker's specifications and our price data; none of our test sources has tested this model.

Suction and brushes 5 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

31,000 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Carpet detection

The robot notices when it drives onto a carpet. Most then raise their suction, and a mopping robot lifts its mop or leaves it at the dock.

detects carpet
Suitable for pet hair

Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.

yes
Dirt detection

A sensor notices where more dirt lies, at the doormat for example, and the robot cleans that patch longer or a second time.

yes
Mopping 5 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.

roller mop
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 0.4 in (10 mm) a medium pile stays dry.

0.4 in (10 mm)
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a baseboard, so the last few inches are mopped as well.

yes
Automatic mop detach

The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet.

no
Mop refreshed while mopping

The robot returns to the dock during a run to rinse the mop, instead of pushing dirty water around.

yes
Dock 9 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

2.4 l
Dust bag lasts

How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter.

up to 120 days
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 140 °F (60 °C) grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling.

212 °F (100 °C)
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

yes
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

17 × 15.8 × 18.1 in (43.1 × 40.2 × 46.1 cm)
Navigation and obstacles 8 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognizes more.

built-in LiDAR, no turret
Obstacle avoidance

How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact.

AI camera
Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

1.6 in (40 mm)
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 0.8 in (2 cm).

no
No-go zones

How you keep the robot out of a place: a zone you draw in the app, a virtual wall or a magnetic strip on the floor.

zones in the app
Camera on board

Whether the robot has a camera, and what for: to recognize obstacles, or also to show you a live picture of your home in the app.

obstacle camera
Room-by-room cleaning

You pick one or more rooms on the map in the app, and the robot cleans only those.

yes
Avoids pet waste

The maker says the robot recognizes a pet accident and drives around it, so it does not smear it across the floor. This is the maker’s claim, not a test of ours.

yes
Robot 2 facts
Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

3.7 in (9.5 cm)
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with a self-emptying dock, which empties the bin after every run.

300 ml
Battery 1 fact
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.
