How we rank
Six rules every robot is ranked by
The same rules for every brand, every day. No brand or store can pay its way up.
Tested, or not ranked
A robot enters the ranking only after a cleaning test. 140 have been tested so far.
Price never counts
A discount can’t lift a model. The price sits beside the score, checked every morning at 6 stores.
Cleaning weighs most
60% of the score is measured cleaning: carpet, pet hair, mopping, obstacles and navigation.
Owners and makers have a say
25% comes from owners’ star ratings at the stores that ship to you, 15% from the facts the maker states.
Thin evidence counts less
The fewer tests behind a result, the more we pull it toward the average of its station type, so one lucky run can’t top the list.
Reviewers shown, not blended
The picks of RTINGS, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, Vacuum Wars, and Wirecutter sit next to our score, so you can see where they agree.
