The Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo is an all-in-one robot with a handheld vacuum that docks in the same station: 11,000 Pa of suction, a ZeroTangle anti-tangle brush, two spinning mop pads of which one extends along edges and which lift 0.4 inches on carpet, and lidar navigation with 3D structured-light obstacle recognition. The station empties both the robot and the handheld into a 3-liter bag for up to 60 days, washes the pads in 158 °F water and dries them with 113 °F air. TechRadar names it the best all-in-one robot vacuum.
TechRadar used it for a couple of weeks on hardwood and carpet and was impressed by both the vacuuming and the mopping: spilled seasoning disappeared in one pass, the leftovers of a birthday party were picked up, and nothing tangled around the brush. The extending mop pad cleans right up to the edges, which in TechRadar's view makes a separate vacuum for deep cleaning far less necessary, and the handheld with its attachments cleared months of dust and leaves from windowsills. The app divided the home into rooms by itself, and the battery never ran out during a clean, helped by fast charging whenever the robot returns to wash its pads.
The criticism: the price is high, the foot control on the bumper does not always respond and, as with most robots, cables remain a hazard. The station adds no cleaning solution, and a coffee concentrate TechRadar spilled was taken up but left a thin film on the floor and a coffee smell in the pads even after a hot wash. At 21.8 inches the station is also wider than most. Anyone who wants a robot and a handheld in one station gets a well-rounded system, and the plain T30S without the handheld costs less.
