What to expect from the iRobot Roomba 106+
The iRobot Roomba 106+ is a vacuum-only Roomba for dry floors, sold with an AutoEmpty dock: ClearView lidar maps the home and helps it steer around obstacles, a three-stage cleaning system with bristle brushes and an edge-sweeping brush does the vacuuming, and the dock empties the bin into a bag that holds up to 75 days of debris. It can be started from the app, the buttons on the robot or a voice assistant.
On paper it offers what the 105 Vac+ offers: lidar, the three-stage cleaning system with iRobot's claim of 70 times the suction of its 600 series, and a 75-day dock. Its listing describes bristle brushes where the others name a multi-surface brush, and says little else about what sets it apart.
None of our test sources has measured it, so how well it vacuums and how it handles pet hair is still unknown. Our specifications list no suction figure, run time or bag size. Anyone who would rather buy on test results can look at the Roborock Q5 Pro+, a tested lidar robot with a self-emptying dock whose vacuuming and pet-hair pickup TechRadar rates highly.
