What to expect from the iRobot Roomba j8+
The iRobot Roomba j8+ is a self-emptying Roomba from iRobot's j series: its Clean Base empties the bin into a bag that holds up to 60 days of debris, and iRobot rates the battery at up to two hours. According to the listing it learns the layout of the home and builds maps, uses iRobot OS to avoid objects and schedule cleaning, and cleans with iRobot's three-stage system.
That is all the Amazon.com listing says. It names no suction figure, no navigation or obstacle sensor and no mop, so on paper it is hard to tell what it adds to the tested j7+ beyond the longer run time iRobot quotes, two hours against 75 minutes.
None of our test sources has measured it, so how well it vacuums and how reliably it avoids objects is still unknown, and our specifications for it are thin. Anyone who would rather buy on test results can look at the j7+, which Vacuum Wars and RTINGS tested: strong on carpet, very good at avoiding pet waste and cables, and let down by low suction and a short run time.
Based on the maker's specifications and our price data; none of our test sources has tested this model.
