What testers say about the Roborock Q5 Pro
The Roborock Q5 Pro is a budget Roborock without a self-emptying dock: 5,500 Pa of suction, DuoRoller dual rubber brushes that Roborock built to pick up hair with fewer tangles, lidar navigation, a clip-on mop pad with a 180-milliliter water tank and a battery Roborock rates at up to 240 minutes, on a dock that only charges. The Q5 Pro+ is the same robot with a dock that empties the bin into a bag.
TechRadar tested the Q5 Pro+ and describes this model as the same robot on a charge-only dock, so its findings on the robot apply here. The vacuuming matched many of Roborock's high-end robots: food debris vanished from a kitchen floor, a medium-pile rug was mostly clean after one pass, and the hair of two dogs and three cats was no problem. The robot's bin is larger than most, the lidar map was quick and accurate, it never got lost or stuck under furniture, and the Roborock app is one of the best there is.
The same weak spots apply. The static mop pad cannot lift on carpet, left wet stripes and has to be rinsed by hand, obstacle avoidance relies on the lidar and the bumper and missed items lower than about 3.9 inches, and at just under 3.8 inches the robot is fairly tall. Without the self-emptying dock you empty the bin yourself, and with pets that means often. For a home without pets, or a buyer who does not mind emptying a bin, it is a budget way to get strong vacuuming and lidar navigation, and with pets the Q5 Pro+ is worth the extra.
