What testers say about the Roborock Q5 Pro+
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ is one of the cheapest Roborocks with a self-emptying dock: 5,500 Pa of suction, Roborock's DuoRoller dual rubber brushes, lidar navigation and a clip-on mop pad, on a compact dock that empties the bin into a 2.5-liter bag for up to seven weeks. The Q5 Pro is the same robot on a dock that only charges. TechRadar counts it among the best cheap robot vacuums and the best for pet hair on a budget.
TechRadar found the vacuuming as good as that of many of Roborock's high-end robots. On a kitchen floor it picked up orzo, sugar, flour and cornflakes without leaving a trace, on a medium-pile rug it collected most of the debris in a single pass, and over five days it kept up with the hair of two dogs and three cats. Its bin is larger than most, so hair does not clog the way into the dock, and the dock never failed to empty it. The lidar map was quick and accurate: the robot never got lost or stuck under furniture, it crossed thin loose rugs without trouble, and the app, with no-go zones and a 3D view of the home, is one of the best there is.
The mop is the weak spot. It is a static pad with a 180-milliliter tank that drags along the floor, cannot lift on carpet, left wet stripes on TechRadar's wooden floor and has to be taken off and rinsed by hand, so TechRadar advises against using it wet. Obstacle avoidance is basic too: without a front camera it relies on its lidar and bumper, and it missed items lower than about 3.9 inches, running over a small dog toy. At just under 3.8 inches it is also on the tall side for low furniture. For a home with pets where vacuuming matters most and the floor is kept clear, it is a lot of robot for the money.
