What testers say about the Roborock Qrevo Curv

For anyone wanting one robot that looks after itself and copes with high thresholds, it remains one of the safest choices.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv is an all-in-one robot with two spinning mop pads of which one extends, a split anti-tangle main brush, an extending side brush and a lifting chassis for thresholds up to 1.6 inches. The rounded station empties the bin into a bag, washes the pads in 167 °F water and dries them with hot air. TechRadar names it the best robot vacuum for most people, RTINGS the best upper mid-range model, and Vacuum Wars kept it at the top of its own top 20 for a while.

TechRadar praises the suction that convinced in every test, including carpet full of pet hair, the reliable navigation and obstacle recognition that let you leave it to itself, and the ease with which it climbs tall thresholds. Vacuum Wars measured 86 percent of the embedded sand out of carpet, tied sixth of more than a hundred robots at the time and better than the pricier Qrevo Master and S8 MaxV, and saw the new brushes handle hair better than the previous generation. Both testers rate the mopping as above average.

The reservations are mild: with its lidar turret the robot is on the tall side and does not fit under all low furniture, the station does not dose detergent and there is no water-line hookup. TechRadar notes the equipment is more than some homes need, and the first place at Vacuum Wars has since gone to newer models.

  • Tends to roll over phone cables and small items near its front TechRadar ↗
  • The domed dock takes up a fair amount of floor space TechRadar ↗
  • High price, and its mop features are wasted if you only vacuum TechRadar ↗
  • Picking up debris from crevices was below average in bench tests Vacuum Wars ↗

Where the testers disagree

  • Pickup: Tom's Guide: Left hardwood floors practically spotless of cereal and cat litter against Vacuum Wars: Picking up debris from crevices was below average in bench tests · Vacuum Wars: Its side brush can fling debris sideways before picking it up under heavy mess
  • Pet hair: Vacuum Wars: Brush roll stayed free of tangled hair in long hair testing against Tom's Guide: Left a good share of dog hair behind on carpet

Suction and brushes 6 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

18,500 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Extending side brush

The side brush swings out in a corner or along a baseboard, so the dust there is swept in too.

yes
Carpet detection

The robot notices when it drives onto a carpet. Most then raise their suction, and a mopping robot lifts its mop or leaves it at the dock.

detects carpet and boosts suction
Suitable for pet hair

Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.

yes
Dirt detection

A sensor notices where more dirt lies, at the doormat for example, and the robot cleans that patch longer or a second time.

yes
Mopping 5 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.

spinning pads
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 0.4 in (10 mm) a medium pile stays dry.

0.4 in (10 mm)
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a baseboard, so the last few inches are mopped as well.

yes
Automatic mop detach

The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Mop refreshed while mopping

The robot returns to the dock during a run to rinse the mop, instead of pushing dirty water around.

no
Dock 11 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

2.7 l
Dust bag lasts

How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

up to 65 days
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 140 °F (60 °C) grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling.

167 °F (75 °C)
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

yes
Dispenses detergent

The dock mixes detergent into the water itself, from its own bottle.

no
Plumbing hookup

The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby.

no
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

17.7 × 17.7 × 17.7 in (45 × 45 × 45 cm)
Navigation and obstacles 7 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognizes more.

LiDAR turret
Obstacle avoidance

How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact.

AI camera
Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

1.2 in (30 mm)
Double threshold (two steps together)

Two steps close together, such as a threshold with a sliding-door track behind it: their combined height, as the maker measures it. Each brand measures with a different gap between the steps, so compare this figure across brands with care. For a single step, the threshold above applies.

1.6 in (40 mm)
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 0.8 in (2 cm).

yes
No-go zones

How you keep the robot out of a place: a zone you draw in the app, a virtual wall or a magnetic strip on the floor.

zones in the app
Camera on board

Whether the robot has a camera, and what for: to recognize obstacles, or also to show you a live picture of your home in the app.

obstacle camera
Robot 5 facts
Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

4.1 in (10.3 cm)
Robot diameter

How wide the robot is. Narrower gets between chair legs more easily, wider usually means a bigger dust bin.

13.9 in (35.2 cm)
Robot weight

What the robot weighs. It counts most if you carry it up a staircase every day.

8.6 lb (3.9 kg)
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with a self-emptying dock, which empties the bin after every run.

325 ml
Noise

The noise in decibels, in the setting its source names: makers mostly give the standard setting, stores often the highest. 65 dB is like a vacuum at half power, 55 dB like a conversation.

55 dB
Battery 2 facts
Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery. It hints at the runtime, but how much the robot draws counts just as much.

6,400 mAh
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.
