What testers say about the Roborock Saros Z70

The Roborock Saros Z70 is the first robot with a mechanical arm that rises from the top to move socks, cloths and slippers out of the way, on top of everything the flagship Saros 10R already has: an embedded lidar without a turret, a climbing chassis, two spinning mop pads that lift 0.9 inches and can stay behind in the station, and a station that washes in 176 °F water and doses detergent. Vacuum Wars gave it its award for the most innovative robot of mid-2025.

Mopping was a standout: on dried stains the second-highest score ever measured, 139 points against 103 for the Saros 10R and a 93 average, with the least residual water in the test. Debris of every size came off hard floors and carpet, the extending side brush handled corners well and the station empties the bin into a 2.7-liter bag and cleans itself. At under 3.1 inches it fits under most furniture.

The arm itself is the weak spot: it only recognizes paper balls, fabrics and one style of slipper, picked objects up sometimes and sometimes not in the tests, and did not always put them in the right place. The testers call the feature a glimpse of the future rather than a reason to buy today, and the price is among the very highest. The station dries the pads without hot air. Anyone wanting the Saros 10R's equipment with the arm as a bonus can consider it once the price approaches the 10R's.

What the tests like and dislike about the Roborock Saros Z70

Pros

  • Vacuums carpet and hard floors thoroughly, leaving almost nothing behind TechRadar ↗
  • Mops very well, with a pad that swings out to clean along edges TechRadar ↗
  • Its low, flat top lets it clean under furniture taller robots miss TechRadar ↗
  • One of the best mopping results they tested, and floors stay only slightly damp Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Avoided nearly every obstacle in their tests Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Very complete app with multiple maps, a smart cleaning plan and pet features Vacuum Wars ↗

Cons

  • Automatic tidying with the arm rarely worked, steering it by remote works better TechRadar ↗
  • The review unit rattled while cleaning, and the dock can be noisy TechRadar ↗
  • Very expensive, and models without the arm clean just as well for less TechRadar ↗
  • Weak at getting embedded grit and flattened pet hair out of carpet Vacuum Wars ↗
  • The arm often failed to pick up or place items, and knows few objects Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Very small dustbin in the robot, because the arm takes up room inside Vacuum Wars ↗

Where the testers disagree

  • Obstacles: Vacuum Wars: Avoided nearly every obstacle in their tests against TechRadar: Automatic tidying with the arm rarely worked, steering it by remote works better · Vacuum Wars: The arm often failed to pick up or place items, and knows few objects

From the published dimensions. The robot passes under furniture with 3.2 in of clearance or more. The dock needs a spot 15 in wide and 18.7 in deep.

Suction and brushes 5 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

22,000 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Extending side brush

The side brush swings out in a corner or along a baseboard, so the dust there is swept in too. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Suitable for pet hair

Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.

yes
Dirt detection

A sensor notices where more dirt lies, at the doormat for example, and the robot cleans that patch longer or a second time.

yes
Mopping 4 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.

spinning pads
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 0.4 in (10 mm) a medium pile stays dry.

0.9 in (22 mm)
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a baseboard, so the last few inches are mopped as well.

yes
Automatic mop detach

The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Dock 11 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

2.7 l
Dust bag lasts

How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter.

up to 60 days
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 140 °F (60 °C) grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

176 °F (80 °C)
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

yes
Dispenses detergent

The dock mixes detergent into the water itself, from its own bottle.

yes
Plumbing hookup

The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby.

no
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

15 × 18.7 × 19.2 in (38.1 × 47.5 × 48.8 cm)
Navigation and obstacles 7 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognizes more.

built-in LiDAR, no turret
Obstacle avoidance

How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact.

Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

1.6 in (40 mm)
Double threshold (two steps together)

Two steps close together, such as a threshold with a sliding-door track behind it: their combined height, as the maker measures it. Each brand measures with a different gap between the steps, so compare this figure across brands with care. For a single step, the threshold above applies.

1.6 in (40 mm)
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 0.8 in (2 cm). On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
No-go zones

How you keep the robot out of a place: a zone you draw in the app, a virtual wall or a magnetic strip on the floor.

zones in the app
Camera on board

Whether the robot has a camera, and what for: to recognize obstacles, or also to show you a live picture of your home in the app.

Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

3.1 in (8 cm)
Robot diameter

How wide the robot is. Narrower gets between chair legs more easily, wider usually means a bigger dust bin.

13.9 in (35.3 cm)
Robot weight

What the robot weighs. It counts most if you carry it up a staircase every day.

10.8 lb (4.9 kg)
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with a self-emptying dock, which empties the bin after every run.

Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery. It hints at the runtime, but how much the robot draws counts just as much.

6,400 mAh
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.
