What to expect from the iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo

The iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo is the top model of iRobot's refreshed line: 35,000 Pa of suction with SealForce sealing, the self-cleaning PowerSpin Max mop roller that scrubs at 300 rpm with 60-degree hot water, 60-degree ThermaMist spray that loosens dried stains, PerfectEdge that extends the roller up to 45 millimetres along walls, a fold-out side brush for corners and DriLift, which lifts the mop and lowers a shield to keep carpet dry. Navigation with lidar and camera, thresholds up to 3.5 centimetres. The station empties the bin into a ninety-day bag, washes in 80-degree water, dries with hot air and doses detergent.

On paper this is the first Roomba to match the equipment of the Asian flagships, with a mop roller instead of pads and a station that does everything itself. The roller is the type that scored best on dried stains and wet messes in Vacuum Wars' tests of Ecovacs and Eufy models.

The caveats: none of our test sources has measured this model, and the previous Roomba generation drew criticism from Vacuum Wars and Tom's Guide for a buggy app and mediocre obstacle recognition; whether that is fixed remains to be seen. At nearly ten centimetres the robot is not low, there is no water connection, the price sits at flagship level and in the Netherlands only one shop sells it. Anyone set on a Roomba with a real mop roller finds the complete version here; anyone weighing price and test results should compare with the tested Ecovacs T90 and Dreame X60.
