What testers say about the Narwal Freo Z10
The Narwal Freo Z10 is the camera-less sibling of the Freo Z10 Ultra: 15,000 Pa of suction, DualFlow brushes against hair wrap, and two triangular mop pads that press down with 8 newtons, swing out along edges and lift 12 millimetres on carpet. The robot carries no water tank, so it returns to the station to wet its pads. The station empties the bin for up to 120 days, washes the pads in water of up to 75 degrees, dries them with 40-degree air and doses detergent.
TechRadar found it a fantastic mop: dusty dried stains came off in a single run and wet sauce in one or two, and after six weeks the pads still looked pristine, the best mop washing the reviewer had seen. It was the first robot the reviewer had tested that steered around cables, and it left shoes, slim furniture legs and tea-light holders alone. It stays quiet on every setting below the most powerful, and the 5,200 mAh battery, good for 210 minutes according to Narwal, managed a full vacuum-then-mop run of the home at maximum settings.
Vacuuming is its weak spot: it needed two runs at the highest setting to clear oats from tiles, left fine particles such as tea and talc behind and took about 80 percent of the hair out of carpet. In TechRadar's test the bin did not empty itself, because its Smart Dust Collection setting waits until 200 square metres have been cleaned. It also washes and dries its pads after a vacuum-only run, uses a lot of water, gets confused when furniture is moved and still tries to swallow small socks. TechRadar found it hard to recommend overall. For a home that mainly needs mopping it does that job well, and anyone who also needs strong vacuuming should look elsewhere.
