What to expect from the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo

The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is the entry model of iRobot's Max line: 13,000 Pa of suction, two rubber brushes and two edge brushes, and the PowerSpin roller mop, which cleans itself continuously, is heated while it mops, pulls out to reach edges and corners and sits under a cover that keeps rugs dry. It navigates with ClearView Pro lidar, and its PrecisionVision camera recognizes cables, socks and pet waste. The AutoWash station empties the bin for up to 75 days, washes the roller, hot-dries it, doses detergent and runs its own self-cleaning cycle.

On paper it has the same kind of roller mop and washing station as the Max 775 Combo, with less suction (13,000 Pa against 30,000 Pa) and a bag interval of 75 rather than 90 days. Voice control works with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.

None of our test sources has measured it, and the previous generation of Roombas was criticized by Vacuum Wars and Tom's Guide for a buggy app and mediocre obstacle recognition. At 4.1 inches it is tall for low furniture, thresholds stop at 0.6 inches, and our specifications list no battery or run time. Anyone who wants a Roomba with a real roller mop and a washing station without paying for the Max 775's extra suction has the obvious candidate here.
