An all-in-one station takes over the tedious part: after every run it empties the bin, washes the mop pads or roller with water, often hot, and dries them with warm air so they do not smell. Most stations also refill the robot's water tank and some dose detergent. In practice you do not touch the robot for weeks: every few weeks you fill the clean-water tank, empty the dirty one and replace a dust bag now and then.
There is a trade-off. The station is big, often sixteen to twenty inches high and wide, and the price is higher than a robot with a self-emptying station only. When comparing, look at the mop-washing temperature, whether the robot lifts or detaches its mops on carpet, how high thresholds may be and whether the station is bagless.
