#30Cheap here means today’s lowest price at a shop that delivers to Germany, delivery included. We read the prices again every day, so the order changes with them.
A low price says nothing about what headphones can do. So the models in our ranking come first, each with its place from the maker’s facts and owners’ ratings, and the rest follow below them.
The type is much of the price: over-ear headphones with noise cancelling hold more battery and more microphones than a pair of simple earbuds. This is the cheapest of each type today.
The score is out of 10: 60% the maker’s facts and 40% shop ratings. Price does not count. A model is ranked only when its form factor and enough of its facts are known. A fact we do not know counts at the market’s average. Method. Models whose type or facts we do not hold yet, so they are not in our ranking. We do track their prices.

They can be, for podcasts, calls and music at home. Cheap headphones often have weaker noise cancelling or none, a shorter battery life, no app to adjust the sound and no multipoint to switch between a phone and a laptop. Look at our ranking first: it shows which of the cheap models carry the facts that matter to you. The cheapest one the tests rank today is the Sony WF-C510, 35 € at Amazon.de.
Mostly four things: noise cancelling that holds up on a train or a plane, a battery that lasts a long day with it switched on, a microphone that keeps your voice clear on a call in a busy street, and the support of an app with updates. The brand on the box matters less than the price suggests: the facts decide more.

We read every shop we follow each day and take the lowest price at a shop that delivers to Germany, delivery included. A foreign shop counts too, its extra costs estimated and marked with a *. A struck-through price is no discount until it beats what the same shop asked in the 30 days before, which our deals page checks.
