What to expect from the iRobot Roomba Plus 575 Combo
The iRobot Roomba Plus 575 Combo is the compact Roomba: 46 percent smaller than the regular models, 83.5 millimetres tall and 30 centimetres wide, so it fits under more furniture. Beyond that, 25,000 Pa of suction, anti-tangle brushes, two spinning mop pads of which one extends along edges and which lift 10.5 millimetres on carpet, camera-based obstacle recognition, lidar navigation and thresholds up to 3.5 centimetres. The station empties the bin, washes the pads in 75-degree water and dries with hot air.
The small size is rare in this class: most robots with a washing station are 35 centimetres wide and nearly ten centimetres tall. For a home with lots of low furniture and narrow passages that is the argument, and camera-based obstacle recognition was still missing on the Plus 405 Combo that Vacuum Wars tested.
The caveats: none of our test sources has measured the 575, and that Plus 405 drew criticism from Vacuum Wars for a buggy app, a station that washes without warm water and a mop that left far too much water behind; the 575 does wash warm, but whether the water control is better is not known. The station doses no detergent and the side brush does not extend. The foreign price is often clearly below the Dutch one.
