What to expect from the Narwal Freo S
The Narwal Freo S is Narwal's simple vacuum-and-mop robot with an auto-empty station: 8,000 Pa of suction with a hybrid brush, lidar navigation, and a mop pad fed by a 300 ml water tank that presses down with 8 newtons. The compact station empties the bin into a 3.5-litre bag that lasts up to 180 days, among the longest intervals in our specifications. It does not wash the mop: the pad comes off and is cleaned by hand.
In quiet mode the maker quotes 62 decibels. It takes thresholds of up to 20 millimetres, stands 100 millimetres tall and works with Alexa and Google Assistant. Against the TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus, which Wirecutter names as runner-up to its top pick, it has more suction on paper (8,000 against 5,300 Pa), the same 300 ml mop tank and a bag that lasts three times as long (180 against 60 days).
None of our test sources has measured the Freo S. Narwal says it recognises and avoids cables, toys and slippers but does not name the sensor, and our specifications list no battery or run time. For a home that wants an auto-empty station with a long bag life and some light mopping it is a candidate, and anyone who wants the mop washed automatically needs a robot with a full washing station.
