What to expect from the iRobot Roomba Combo i5+
The iRobot Roomba Combo i5+ is a vacuum-and-mop Roomba from 2023 with a Clean Base station that empties the bin into allergen-trapping bags for up to 60 days. It cleans with two rubber brushes and an edge brush, and becomes a mopping robot when you swap its dust bin for the Combo bin with a water tank, which feeds a mop pad. iRobot's Imprint mapping learns the home, so rooms can be chosen in the app.
That bin swap is the key to how it works. Vacuum Wars' comparison of iRobot's Combo range notes that the i5+ mops with a separate bin rather than a mop that lifts away on carpet, that its DirtDetect sensor only works with the vacuum bin fitted, and that it navigates by floor tracking, like the Roomba i3, without obstacle avoidance. So rugs have to be kept out of mopping runs, and cables and socks cleared first.
None of our test sources has tested the i5+ itself, and our specifications list no suction figure. At 91 millimetres it is fairly low, thresholds stop at 16 millimetres, and the station only empties: it does not wash or dry the pad. It suits a home with mostly hard floors and little clutter. Anyone who wants obstacle recognition and a station that washes the mop should look at iRobot's newer Max line, such as the Max 705 Combo.
