What to expect from the Roborock QR 598

The Roborock QR 598 is an entry model with a washing station sold through one Dutch shop: 8,000 Pa of suction, two spinning mop pads that lift a centimetre on carpet, lidar navigation and a station that empties the bin, washes and dries the pads, refills the water tank and collects the dirty water. The robot is 96.5 millimetres tall and 64 decibels is quoted.

For the price you get the full maintenance package: no emptying yourself, no rinsing the pads yourself, with the reliable lidar navigation Roborock also uses in its pricier models.

The limits are those of the entry class: 8,000 Pa is low next to the Qrevo models, there is no anti-tangle brush, nothing extends, the station washes without hot water and dries without hot air, obstacle recognition is absent and thresholds stop at two centimetres. None of our test sources has measured this model. Compare it with the Qrevo 5AE and the Qrevo S5V, which Vacuum Wars did measure and which offer clearly more suction for a little more money.

Based on the maker's specifications and our price data; none of our test sources has tested this model.

Roborock QR 598 specifications

The numbers that matter first, then every fact by group. As published by the maker or the shop we read it from.

Robot height9.7 cm
Climbs thresholds up to20 mm
Mop lift on carpet10 mm
Runtime per charge180 min
Suction power8,000 Pa

Consumables: a 2.7 l dust bag in the station.

Dimensionsrobot and dock

Dock, from the front 51.9 cm high 48.7 cm deep 51.9 cm 34 cm wide Robot, from the side 35.3 cm across 9.7 cm

From the published dimensions. The robot passes under furniture with 10 cm of clearance or more. The dock needs a spot 34 cm wide and 49 cm deep.

Suction and brushes 2 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

8,000 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Mopping 4 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.

spinning pads
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 10 mm a medium pile stays dry.

10 mm
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a kickboard, so the last few centimetres are mopped as well.

no
Water tank in the robot

How much clean water the robot carries. It sets how long it mops before a refill, which a dock does by itself.

80 ml
Dock 10 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

2.7 l
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 60 °C grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling.

cold water
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

no
Dispenses detergent

The dock mixes detergent into the water itself, from its own bottle.

no
Plumbing hookup

The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby.

no
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

34 × 48.7 × 51.9 cm
Navigation and obstacles 3 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognises more.

LiDAR turret
Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

20 mm
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 2 cm.

no
Robot 5 facts
Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

9.7 cm
Robot diameter

How wide the robot is. Narrower gets between chair legs more easily, wider usually means a bigger dust bin.

35.3 cm
Robot weight

What the robot weighs. It counts most if you carry it up a staircase every day.

3.57 kg
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with an auto-empty dock, which empties the bin after every run.

330 ml
Noise

The noise in decibels, in the setting its source names: makers mostly give the standard setting, shops often the highest. 65 dB is like a vacuum at half power, 55 dB like a conversation.

65 dB
Battery 2 facts
Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery. It hints at the runtime, but how much the robot draws counts just as much.

5,200 mAh
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.

180 min
Smart features and warranty 2 facts
Voice assistants

Which voice assistants the robot works with, such as Google Assistant or Alexa. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

Google Assistant
Warranty

The warranty the maker gives in the Netherlands. Consumer law here stands apart from it and can last longer.
