What testers say about the Roborock Saros 10

The Roborock Saros 10 is the flagship with a retractable lidar that keeps the robot under eight centimetres so it fits under the sofa, a lifting chassis for thresholds up to four centimetres, a vibrating mop pad with a small extending edge mop, and a station that washes the pads in 80-degree water and dries them with hot air; the pads can stay behind in the station automatically. TechRadar tested it at length and calls it a game-changer for cleaning under furniture.

TechRadar praises the suction and the mopping, with low-water modes for floors that dislike moisture, the straightforward mapping, the good-looking station that takes over almost all maintenance, and the fact that hair does not wrap around the brush. The retracting navigation puck and the climbing legs took it to places other robots could not reach, and over tall thresholds.

The criticism: the price is investment-class, obstacle recognition was patchy and, in the reviewer's view, spinning pads scrub better than this model's vibrating pad. The sister robot Saros 10R has those spinning pads and an embedded lidar. If low furniture and high thresholds are your main concern and you prefer a pad to spinning discs, this fits; for the best mopping, look at the 10R.

What the tests like and dislike about the Roborock Saros 10

Pros

  • Pulls a lot of dog hair out of carpet without fuss TechRadar ↗
  • Lowers its sensor turret to get under low sofas, and it works reliably TechRadar ↗
  • Dock takes care of emptying, mop washing and drying with little help TechRadar ↗
  • Picks up debris of all sizes well on carpet and hard floors Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Moves through rooms efficiently and covers a lot of floor per charge Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Lifts itself over raised thresholds that stop many other robots Vacuum Wars ↗

Cons

  • Ran over a sock and a charging cable during obstacle tests TechRadar ↗
  • Light mopping modes barely touch dried-on stains, and spinning pads scrub better TechRadar ↗
  • Very expensive, and the recommended branded floor cleaner is pricey too TechRadar ↗
  • Vibrating mop pad struggles with dried-on stains Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Dodges obstacles well, but less reliably than the Saros 10R Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Weak at pulling dirt out of cracks in the floor Vacuum Wars ↗

Each point sums up, in our words, the review of the test it names, and its link leads to that review. We do not summarise RTINGS or Wirecutter: their lists are linked above.

Roborock Saros 10 specifications

The numbers that matter first, then every fact by group. As published by the maker or the shop we read it from.

Consumables: a 2.7 l dust bag in the station, which lasts up to 49 days.

Dimensionsrobot and dock

Dock, from the front 47 cm high 44 cm deep 47 cm 40.9 cm wide Robot, from the side 35.3 cm across 8 cm

From the published dimensions. The robot passes under furniture with 8 cm of clearance or more. The dock needs a spot 41 cm wide and 44 cm deep.

Suction and brushes 6 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

22,000 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Extending side brush

The side brush swings out in a corner or along a kickboard, so the dust there is swept in too. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Carpet detection

The robot notices when it drives onto a carpet. Most then raise their suction, and a mopping robot lifts its mop or leaves it at the dock.

detects carpet and boosts suction
Suitable for pet hair

Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.

yes
Dirt detection

A sensor notices where more dirt lies, at the doormat for example, and the robot cleans that patch longer or a second time.

yes
Mopping 4 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

flat or vibrating pad
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 10 mm a medium pile stays dry.

18 mm
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a kickboard, so the last few centimetres are mopped as well.

no
Automatic mop detach

The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Dock 11 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

2.7 l
Dust bag lasts

How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter.

up to 49 days
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 60 °C grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling.

80 °C
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

yes
Dispenses detergent

The dock mixes detergent into the water itself, from its own bottle.

yes
Plumbing hookup

The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby.

no
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

40.9 × 44 × 47 cm
Navigation and obstacles 6 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognises more.

retractable LiDAR
Obstacle avoidance

How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

AI camera
Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

30 mm
Double threshold (two steps together)

Two steps close together, such as a threshold with a sliding-door track behind it: their combined height, as the maker measures it. Each brand measures with a different gap between the steps, so compare this figure across brands with care. For a single step, the threshold above applies.

40 mm
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 2 cm. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Camera on board

Whether the robot has a camera, and what for: to recognise obstacles, or also to show you a live picture of your home in the app.

obstacle camera
Robot 4 facts
Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

8 cm
Robot diameter

How wide the robot is. Narrower gets between chair legs more easily, wider usually means a bigger dust bin.

35.3 cm
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with an auto-empty dock, which empties the bin after every run.

270 ml
Noise

The noise in decibels, in the setting its source names: makers mostly give the standard setting, shops often the highest. 65 dB is like a vacuum at half power, 55 dB like a conversation.

64 dB
Battery 2 facts
Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery. It hints at the runtime, but how much the robot draws counts just as much. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

6,400 mAh
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.

220 min
Smart features and warranty 4 facts
Matter

Matter is the standard that lets devices from different makers work together. With it you can run the robot outside the maker’s own app. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Voice assistants

Which voice assistants the robot works with, such as Google Assistant or Alexa. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

Alexa, Google Assistant
Warranty

The warranty the maker gives in the Netherlands. Consumer law here stands apart from it and can last longer.

2 years
Home Assistant

Whether the robot works with Home Assistant, the home automation software you run yourself. Official means the integration comes with Home Assistant itself, community that volunteers maintain it.
