The iRobot Roomba 104 2in1+ is the mopping version of the Roomba 104, sold with an AutoEmpty dock: ClearView lidar maps the home, a multi-surface brush and an edge-sweeping brush vacuum, and a microfiber mop pad, kept evenly damp by a small pump, mops hard floors. The dock empties the bin into a bag that traps allergens as small as 0.7 microns and holds up to 75 days of debris, and the robot works with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
The pad does not lift: the robot detects carpet and avoids it while mopping, so rugs stay dry but are left out of a mopping run. The app switches between vacuuming only, mopping only or both, sets the amount of water and the number of passes, and offers a SmartScrub mode that iRobot says scrubs twice as deep. As with the other entry Roombas, iRobot claims 70 times the suction of its 600 series but gives no figure in pascals.
None of our test sources has measured it, so how well it vacuums and mops is still unknown. Our specifications list no suction figure, run time or water tank size. Anyone who would rather buy on test results can look at the Roborock Q10 S5+, a tested lidar robot with a self-emptying station and a mop pad that lifts on carpet.
