What testers say about the eufy Omni E28

The Eufy Omni E28 combines three appliances: a robot vacuum, a roller-mop robot and a detachable handheld cleaner for stains in carpet and upholstery, with a station that empties the bin into a bag, washes and dries the roller, drains the dirty water and refills the clean-water tank. Vacuum Wars bought one and tested it in its own studio.

Vacuuming was strong on every front: all surface debris, from fine dust to large crumbs, came off hard floors and carpet, the extending side brush swept edges and corners clean and in the carpet deep-clean test it removed 85 percent of the embedded dirt, a top-8 score among more than two hundred robots tested against a 75 percent average. The camera-based obstacle recognition avoided 23 of 24 objects, one of the best results to date, and the roller mop scored 127 on dried stains against an average of 93. Unlike spinning pads the roller picks up wet messes and channels them into an onboard dirty-water tank; on carpet it lifts a centimetre. The top-mounted lidar covered the floor efficiently, at 0.9 square metres per minute against 0.7 square metres on average.

The criticism: at 1.3 grams the roller left slightly more water behind than average, which causes occasional streaks on glossy floors, and the station washes the roller with cold water. At eleven centimetres the robot is on the tall side and thresholds stop at two centimetres. Anyone who wants a small spot cleaner for the sofa and carpet alongside the robot, housed in one station, gets a unique package in the E28; anyone who only needs the robot should look at the cheaper E25 built on the same base.

What the tests like and dislike about the eufy Omni E28

  • Detachable handheld spot cleaner on the dock lifts stains from rugs and upholstery Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Mops hard floors to a shine without leaving them too wet Tom's Guide ↗
  • Its side brush reaches out into corners a round robot tends to miss Tom's Guide ↗
  • Handheld deep cleaner lifted stains from a rug and a fabric sofa Tom's Guide ↗
  • Maps quickly and moves confidently along walls, over cables and past chair legs TechRadar ↗
  • Roller mop scrubs dried-on grime and leaves floors noticeably fresh TechRadar ↗
  • Climbed the tester's highest door sills without trouble TechRadar ↗

Cons

  • Long hair wraps into thick clumps behind the brush Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Small onboard bin means more trips back to the dock in big homes Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Raw suction lags behind other robots in its price class Vacuum Wars ↗
  • Treated clusters of cereal as obstacles and skipped them in testing Tom's Guide ↗
  • Sometimes bumps table legs and once wedged itself beside a toilet Tom's Guide ↗
  • Dock is loud for a few seconds while it empties the bin Tom's Guide ↗
  • Splitting rooms in the app is fiddly and sometimes fails TechRadar ↗
  • No vacuum-first-then-mop mode and no option for two passes TechRadar ↗
  • Handheld cleaner sprays a lot of water, too much for a sofa TechRadar ↗

Where the testers disagree

  • The station: Vacuum Wars: Detachable handheld spot cleaner on the dock lifts stains from rugs and upholstery · Tom's Guide: Handheld deep cleaner lifted stains from a rug and a fabric sofa against TechRadar: Handheld cleaner sprays a lot of water, too much for a sofa
  • Navigation: TechRadar: Maps quickly and moves confidently along walls, over cables and past chair legs against Tom's Guide: Sometimes bumps table legs and once wedged itself beside a toilet

Each point sums up, in our words, the review of the test it names, and its link leads to that review. We do not summarise RTINGS or Wirecutter: their lists are linked above.

From the published dimensions. The dock needs a spot 37 cm wide and 48 cm deep.

Suction and brushes 3 facts
Suction power

Suction in pascal, as the maker measures it. More pascal helps on carpet, but it says little about how well the robot picks grit off a hard floor.

20,000 Pa
Anti-tangle brush

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets.

yes
Extending side brush

The side brush swings out in a corner or along a kickboard, so the dust there is swept in too. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Mopping 6 facts
Mop type

How the mop is built: flat pads, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.

roller mop
Mop lift on carpet

How far the robot lifts the mop when it drives onto a carpet. From about 10 mm a medium pile stays dry.

10.5 mm
Mop extends to the edges

The pad slides out along a wall or a kickboard, so the last few centimetres are mopped as well.

no
Automatic mop detach

The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Mop refreshed while mopping

The robot returns to the dock during a run to rinse the mop, instead of pushing dirty water around.

yes
Water tank in the robot

How much clean water the robot carries. It sets how long it mops before a refill, which a dock does by itself.

120 ml
Dock 13 facts
Empties the dust bin

The dock empties the robot’s dust bin, usually after every run. You only empty the dock’s bag or bin.

yes
Bagless

The dock collects dust in a bin instead of a disposable bag. No bags to buy, but you empty it yourself. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Dust bag capacity

How much the dust bag in the dock holds.

3 l
Dust bag lasts

How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter.

up to 75 days
Washes the mop

The dock washes the mop for you, so you do not rinse it by hand. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Wash temperature

How hot the dock washes the mop. Above 60 °C grease comes off, which is what keeps a mop from smelling.

cold water
Dries the mop

The dock dries the mop afterwards, so it does not sit there wet and start to smell.

yes
Hot-air drying

Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell.

yes
Dispenses detergent

The dock mixes detergent into the water itself, from its own bottle.

yes
Plumbing hookup

The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby.

no
Clean water tank

The clean water tank in the dock, which wets the mop.

2.5 l
Dirty water tank

The tank that catches the dirty water from the mop. You empty this one yourself.

1.8 l
Dock size (w × d × h)

The width, depth and height of the dock. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room for the lid and for the robot driving in.

37.2 × 48.4 × 44 cm
Navigation and obstacles 4 facts
Navigation

How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognises more. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

LiDAR turret
Obstacle avoidance

How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact.

AI camera
Climbs thresholds up to

The highest threshold the robot takes, as the maker states it. Measure your own: the step into a bathroom or onto a balcony is often higher.

21 mm
Climbing system for high thresholds

An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 2 cm. On this model: the maker names this feature nowhere on the product page, so we take it as no.

no
Robot 4 facts
Robot height

How tall the robot is. It decides whether it fits under your sofa, bed or cabinet.

11.1 cm
Robot weight

What the robot weighs. It counts most if you carry it up a staircase every day.

5.2 kg
Dust bin in the robot

How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with an auto-empty dock, which empties the bin after every run.

300 ml
Noise

The noise in decibels, in the setting its source names: makers mostly give the standard setting, shops often the highest. 65 dB is like a vacuum at half power, 55 dB like a conversation. On this model: maximum noise level according to Coolblue.

63 dB
Battery 2 facts
Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery. It hints at the runtime, but how much the robot draws counts just as much.

5,200 mAh
Runtime per charge

How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.

218 min
Smart features and warranty 3 facts
Matter

Matter is the standard that lets devices from different makers work together. With it you can run the robot outside the maker’s own app. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

yes
Voice assistants

Which voice assistants the robot works with, such as Google Assistant or Alexa.

Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant
Warranty

The warranty the maker gives in Germany. Consumer law here stands apart from it and can last longer.
