The Dreame X50S Ultra is the refreshed X50 Ultra: 35,000 Pa of suction instead of 20,000, an ultra-thin 7.95-centimetre build with retractable lidar, camera-based obstacle recognition that knows up to 280 kinds of objects and a light that makes dirt visible, a climbing system for thresholds up to 4.5 centimetres, an extending mop pad and side brush, pads that stay behind in the station automatically and mopping with 40-degree warm water. The station empties the bin into a 3.2-litre bag for a hundred days, washes in 100-degree water, dries with hot air, doses detergent and can be connected to the water line.

The X50 Ultra Complete it builds on is what TechRadar calls perhaps the most complete package on the market, thanks to the legs and the retracting turret that take it under sofas and over thresholds; Vacuum Wars measured a near-perfect score on pressed-in pet hair, no hair around the brush after the long-hair test and 83 percent of the sand out of carpet.
The criticism of that X50 Ultra Complete, patchy obstacle recognition, a battery that drains quickly and a high price, has been neither refuted nor confirmed for the S version: none of our test sources has measured it. With the 6,400 mAh battery and the higher suction it is the better X50 on paper; anyone who sees a premium should compare it with the Complete.

A brush that guides hair to the side instead of letting it wind around the shaft. It saves the cutting work in homes with long hair or pets. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

The side brush swings out in a corner or along a kickboard, so the dust there is swept in too.

Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.

Yes. The station washes the mop itself, with water at 100 °C. It then dries the mop with warm air.
It works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. It also supports Matter, so it fits into another brand’s app.

The robot is 8 cm tall, so it fits under furniture with at least 8 cm of clearance. Its lidar turret retracts where space is tight.
Yes, the maker says. The brush guides hair to the side instead of winding it round the roller.
