What to expect from the Lefant M3L
For anyone wanting a full washing station at a fraction of the usual price, and no need for hot water or reach into corners, it is the model in Lefant's range to look at.
The Lefant M3L is Lefant's all-in-one: 12,000 Pa of suction, two spinning mops that lift 9 millimetres on carpet, a V-shaped brush with combs that cuts hair before it wraps, and dToF lidar with maps of three floors. The station empties the bin into a 3.2-litre bag, washes and dries the mops, refills from a 2.5-litre clean water tank and doses detergent.
The robot is 96.5 millimetres tall, with a 5,200 mAh battery and a stated 220 minutes of runtime. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, on 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
None of our test sources has tested the M3L. Lefant itself calls the mops cold-washed, with no hot water and no hot-air drying named, and the mops neither extend nor stay behind in the station.
Based on the maker's specifications and our price data. None of our test sources has tested this model.

When it matters
Deep-pile carpet and rugs, where dust sinks in.
Pet hair, sand and crumbs trodden into fibres.
When it matters less
On hard floors the gain from a higher figure is small: the dust lies on top.
How the robot keeps hair off its brushes: a blade that cuts it, a comb that strips it off or a brush in two halves that lets it slide to the middle. A rubber brush is listed under the main brush.
blade that cuts hair
Extending side brush
When it matters
Corners and edges along kickboards, where a round robot leaves a strip of dust.
The side brush swings out in a corner or along a kickboard, so the dust there is swept in too. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.

Mopping5 facts
Mop type
When it matters
Homes with a lot of hard floor that you want mopped, not just wiped.
Dried-on dirt in a kitchen, which spinning pads or a roller scrub off better than a dragged cloth.
When it matters less
If you only vacuum, the mop’s build decides nothing.
How the mop is built: flat pads, a vibrating pad, two spinning discs or a roller. Discs press harder on dried-on dirt, a roller rinses itself while it works.
The pad slides out along a wall or a kickboard, so the last few centimetres are mopped as well. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Mop refreshed while mopping
When it matters
Large hard floors, where a mop that is never rinsed spreads dirt around.
Kitchens with sticky spills.
When it matters less
In a small home the mop does not get dirty enough in one run for it to matter.
Drying is done with warm air instead of cold. It is faster and it helps against smell. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Dispenses detergent
When it matters
Kitchens and greasy floors, where water alone leaves a film.
Not wanting to add cleaner by hand each time.
When it matters less
Some floors, such as oiled wood, are best mopped with water only, so there it adds nothing.
The dock can be connected to the tap and the drain, so you never fill or empty a tank. It does need a connection nearby. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Clean water tank
When it matters
Large hard floors mopped every day.
Being away for days while the robot keeps mopping.
When it matters less
With a dock connected to the tap the tank is filled for you.
An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 2 cm. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.

Multi-floor maps
When it matters
A home on two or three floors you carry the robot between.
The noise in decibels while cleaning, in the setting its source names: makers mostly give the standard setting, shops often the highest. 65 dB is like a vacuum at half power, 55 dB like a conversation. Emptying by the dock is louder and listed on its own.
How long the robot cleans on one charge, at its quietest setting. After that it recharges and carries on where it stopped.

When it matters
Running the robot alongside devices from other makers in one app.
Not wanting to depend on the maker’s own app.
When it matters less
