What to expect from the MOVA E40 Ultra
The MOVA E40 Ultra is an entry model with plenty of equipment: 19,000 Pa of suction, two spinning mop pads of which one extends along edges, pads that lift 10.5 millimetres on carpet, an anti-tangle side brush, obstacle recognition with 3D structured light, lidar navigation and a station that empties the bin into a 3.2-litre bag for 75 days, washes the pads and dries them with hot air. The 5,200 mAh battery is rated for 260 minutes at 61 decibels.
For the price of an ordinary vacuum robot with an auto-empty station this also gets you washing, drying and an extending mop arm, the feature that gave the tested Dreame models cleaner edges, plus obstacle recognition the cheaper E30 lacks.
The limits: the station washes without hot water and doses no detergent, the side brush does not extend, the pads do not stay behind in the station automatically and thresholds stop at 2.2 centimetres. None of our test sources has measured the E40 Ultra. For a home with mostly hard floors that wants a washing station without paying much, it is on paper one of the best-equipped entry models.
Based on the maker's specifications and our price data; none of our test sources has tested this model.
MOVA E40 Ultra specifications
The numbers that matter first, then every fact by group. As published by the maker or the shop we read it from.
The side brush swings out in a corner or along a kickboard, so the dust there is swept in too. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Carpet detection
When it matters
Rugs and carpets, where the robot should raise its suction.
Mopping in a home with rugs, which have to stay dry.
The robot notices when it drives onto a carpet. Most then raise their suction, and a mopping robot lifts its mop or leaves it at the dock.
detects carpet
Suitable for pet hair
When it matters
Dogs and cats that shed.
Long-haired pets, whose hair wraps around a brush.
Without pets, ordinary hair and dust need nothing special.
Source: derived, no source of its own · checked on 2 Oct
Whether the robot copes with pet hair: a brush that hair does not wind around and a dock that empties the bin for you. Where the maker does not say so itself, we read it from those two.
no
Dirt detection
When it matters
Entrances and kitchens, where dirt gathers in one place.
Pets that leave hair in a favourite spot.
If dirt is spread evenly, a normal pass cleans it just as well.
The robot leaves the mop at the dock before it vacuums a carpet, so the carpet never gets wet. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Mop refreshed while mopping
When it matters
Large hard floors, where a mop that is never rinsed spreads dirt around.
Kitchens with sticky spills.
In a small home the mop does not get dirty enough in one run for it to matter.
The robot returns to the dock during a run to rinse the mop, instead of pushing dirty water around. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
Water tank in the robot
When it matters
Large hard floors mopped in one go.
A robot whose dock does not refill it during a run.
With a dock that refills the robot during the run, the tank’s size hardly matters.
How long the maker says a dust bag lasts with daily use. With pets or a lot of carpet it is shorter. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.
up to 75 days
Washes the mop
297 of the 378 models we track have this.
When it matters
Mopping several times a week, when rinsing pads by hand gets tiresome.
Kitchens and hallways, where a mop picks up a lot of dirt.
If you rarely mop, washing the pads by hand is little work.
How the robot maps your home and follows that map. Lidar measures with a laser and works in the dark, a camera looks along and recognises more. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

Obstacle avoidance

Cables, socks and toys left on the floor.
Pets, whose accidents a robot should steer around.
In a home that is tidied before each run it matters less.
How the robot sees loose things on the floor, such as cables, socks or a pet accident. A camera with depth sensing sees more than a bumper that reacts on contact. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.
An extending leg or wheel that carries the robot over a high threshold. Without one it usually stops at about 2 cm. On this model: Assumed, not a stated fact: the maker's full specification does not name it, so we take it as no.
no (assumed)
No-go zones
When it matters
Pet bowls, a play corner or a rug with tassels the robot should skip.
Places where it gets stuck, such as under a low chair.
In a clear home with nothing to avoid you will rarely use it.
How much dust the robot holds before you empty it. It matters less with an auto-empty dock, which empties the bin after every run. On this model: from the maker's product text, not from a specification table.

When it matters
A robot with a dock full of pumps and moving parts, where more can break.
